Hosting the Premier Circuit x Bear Claw Major III LAN: A Milestone for North Carolina Esports Academy

Recently, North Carolina Esports Academy had the honor of hosting the Premier Circuit x Bear Claw Major III LAN, featuring intense Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 action. Although our primary focus is on providing services for youth, hosting a professional-level competition at our Cary venue was a thrilling experience.

The event saw 15 teams, each with 4 players, battling it out over an action-packed weekend. While it was exhausting, the experience was invaluable, offering insights and teaching essential cross-industry skills that are crucial not just in esports but in any professional setting. Here’s a breakdown of some of those skills:

At North Carolina Esports Academy, we have learned that a well-thought-out plan is crucial to ensuring everything runs smoothly. From setting up the venue to coordinating with teams and sponsors, each step needed careful consideration. This experience not only reinforced the importance of planning in event management but also highlighted how these skills can be applied across different industries.

Esports events, like any other, require a well-coordinated team of staff members to ensure everything goes off without a hitch. This involves recruiting the right people, sending out Requests for Proposals (RFPs), and understanding the specific roles each staff member will play during the event.

During the Premier Circuit x Bear Claw Major III, we had to organize everything from player check-ins to match scheduling, ensuring that each aspect of the event was handled professionally. The experience underscored the importance of having a structured approach to event organization, which is a skill we actively instill in our youth teams and interns at the academy.

Managing an event of this scale taught us the importance of adaptability and quick decision-making. Despite the best-laid plans, unexpected challenges can arise, and it’s the management team’s responsibility to address them promptly. This experience provided us with valuable insights into leadership and crisis management, skills that are crucial in any industry.

Effective communication is perhaps the most critical component of any event. Clear and concise communication ensures that everyone involved understands their responsibilities and can execute their tasks effectively.

In the context of the Premier Circuit x Bear Claw Major III, communication was essential in coordinating with teams, staff, and spectators to ensure a seamless experience.

Throughout the event, we emphasized the importance of transparent and open communication. Whether it was conveying match schedules to teams or updating spectators on the event’s progress, communication played a pivotal role in the event’s success. This is a skill we continually strive to develop in our youth teams, as it is invaluable in both esports and broader professional environments.

Hosting the Premier Circuit x Bear Claw Major III LAN was a significant achievement for North Carolina Esports Academy. The event not only showcased high-level competition but also provided us with an opportunity to hone essential skills in planning, organization, management, and communication.

As we continue to grow and develop our youth programs, our goal is to pass on these lessons to the next generation of esports professionals. By doing so, we hope to contribute to the growth and maturity of the esports industry, ensuring that it is taken seriously as a legitimate and respected field.
