North Carolina Esports Academy began in October 2020 by Caleb Smith and Vinny Smith. North Carolina Esports Academy is a hands on video gaming, esports, & STEM youth development organization. We take something your child loves which is video games and turn it into a productive experience though our education of tech skills, character & life skills building, and health and wellness. We operate out of our physical location in Cary at Waverly Place Shopping Center and have the ability to bring our programs to other venues upon request.

North Carolina Esports Academy have been award the 2022 Innovation in Business award and 2023 Impact Award by the Cary Chamber of Commerce,  and have been featured in the Triangle Business Journal, News & Observer, WRAL Techwire, ABC11, and more.

Caleb Smith

Owner

Caleb Smith has been a lifelong gamer and athlete. His competitiveness led to him playing soccer overseas in Germany. Having years of experience in both competing and coaching in the traditional sports world, Caleb saw the importance of youth development and character building. Due to his love for video games, he wanted to offer in video gaming what was offered in traditional sports. Caleb had a mission to be a trailblazer in the industry and revolutionize esports though youth development and esports education. He truly believes in helping others and that he can grow and develop life skills in young people while destigmatizing gaming. Caleb was a 2022 Triangle Business Journal 40 under 40 winner and a Forbes 30 under 30 winner for the education category.

Vinny Smith

Vinny Smith

Owner

Vinny Smith grew up playing video games. It was his love for playing video games that turned his interest to learn how to design and program games. From this beginning, Vinny went on to earn a B.S. in Computer Science from the U.S. Naval Academy. While attending the Naval Academy, Vinny was a three sports athlete competing in football, track & field, and boxing. Vinny’s leadership ability led him to be elected Class Secretary by his peers at the Naval Academy. He then went on to earn a Master’s degree in Management and a PhD in Business Management while serving as an Intelligence Officer in the Navy. From his experience, Vinny believes there are many components of video gaming that will help young people with their studies in school and help them develop as leaders. This is why he is so passionate about what North Carolina Esports Academy has to offer youth.
