For a long time, I dreamed of owning an esports organization. It’s been one of my personal goals even before opening North Carolina Esports Academy. For years, I hesitated to take the leap because of the industry’s lack of profitability. But today, I’m in a position where I can confidently pursue this venture.
North Carolina Esports Academy has been in business for nearly four and a half years. We’re financially stable and thriving. While the market doesn’t currently support expanding our academy model as broadly as we’d like, we discovered another opportunity—opening Minds of Every Kind, an indoor playground and sensory gym. Thanks to the success of both businesses, we now have the ability to launch Carolina Storm, our very own esports organization—without relying on outside investment.
What Sets Carolina Storm Apart
Carolina Storm isn’t chasing a national or international brand. Instead, we’re building a community-focused, local esports organization. Our mission is to:
✅ Sign local talent
✅ Host and participate in local events
✅ Support and engage with our local community
This local-first approach allows us to keep overhead low and reach profitability with less revenue. It also opens doors for sponsorships from local businesses instead of requiring national brand recognition to attract big corporate dollars. We believe that focusing on our immediate community builds stronger relationships, loyalty, and a more sustainable future for the org.
Why Carolina Storm Is Different
Most esports orgs rely heavily on upfront capital from sponsors or investors. This often gives outside interests too much control, sometimes pushing founders out of their own businesses.
Carolina Storm is backed by North Carolina Esports Academy, meaning we don’t need funds from sponsors or investors to operate. This gives us the freedom to choose the right partnerships—ones that align with our values and serve our community.
What We Offer
Carolina Storm includes:
🎮 Competitive esports teams
🎮 Academy teams
🎮 Content creators
🎮 Local events
🎮 Partnerships and collaborations with other local esports companies and organizations
We’re excited to launch this new chapter and provide opportunities for local talent, while strengthening our community through esports.
